From the Headteacher

On behalf of the Governors, staff and children of High Street Primary Academy, thank you for visiting our school website. High Street is a successful community school serving the children and their families of our local area and beyond. It is a small school with a big heart and at the centre of that heart are the children and their learning. As our mission statement says, ‘ We are a school which provides a caring, secure family environment, where each child is valued as an individual who is able to benefit from and contributes to the life of the school, regardless of gender, race, creed or disability.’ We aim to provide an outstanding education for all our children so that every child will have the ability to make choices for their successful futures.

Parents are the most important people in a child’s life and are a key aspect to their child’s success at school. With their support we are able to work together to ensure each child receives the best possible education. This is done through communication, respect and trust for one another and together we will ensure each child receives the best possible education. In short, if you choose our school, you will be choosing our school ethos where a love of learning, attendance, communication and support of one another are vital.

As well as fantastic staff here at High Street, we have a fantastic site. It is split into three buildings: our purpose built nursery with its own designated outdoor learning environment, Foundation and two Key stage 1 classes in a further building which also has its own designated outdoor space and the main building which is home to four Key Stage 2 classes, the school hall, kitchen and offices. For a school within the bounds of the City, we have ample outdoor play areas: a playground complete with climbing frames and an undercover play area, a small field and a garden with a beautiful pond and growing areas. Within the school buildings we have a well-resourced library, I.C.T. suite, well equipped shared areas and a music room. There is truly something for every pupil here at High Street, in and out of the classroom.

If you are a prospective parent, child, OFSTED inspector or someone who is just interested in our school, I hope that you will find what you are looking for on the pages of this site. However, a school is so much more than the contents of a website - so please visit and see our school in action; you will be warmly welcomed!
