Turtle Class (Y2)

Welcome to the Year 2 Turtle's page!
In Year 2 your child is supported by Miss Gilbert and Mrs Atkinson. Mr Green will also be teaching your child on Tuesdays.
Our classroom is part of the KS1 building and we are lucky enough to have our own library, breakfast room and 2 gardens around our building!
We have lots of exciting learning opportunities ahead both in school and beyond. We look forward to  working with all our families this year.

Reading in Year 2
This year one of our key focusses will be on reading across Starfish and Turtle classes (KS1).
We will be awarding the children who read regularly and also those who put in the effort and make great progress.
Each child has been provided with a new reading diary, 2 books, a library book and a folder for Year 2.
Each week, we will change your child books whenever they are brought into school. We will also be listening to your child read on a daily basis (either individually or in a group). In order to monitor their progress and ensure we regularly change their books, please make sure that your child brings in their reading folder every day.
Thank you for your continued support!
Our new topic is 'The Town Mouse and The Country Mouse'
The children have really enjoyed getting stuck into the Geography aspects of this unit. We went on an adventure, setting a trail for Stuart Road's Year 2's to follow back to our school. When we arrived at Stuart Road we had a special treat given to us! YUMMY!
Today Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 all celebrated filling their cube jars by hosting an amazing Halloween party! We made Halloween crafts, bobbed for apples and did some amazing dancing. Starfish class wrote about their costumes and Turtle class created their own potion recipes. Tyler's was particularly gruesome- check it out below!
Once Upon a Time...
The title of our new term's learning is 'Once Upon a Time'.
Our new key text is 'The Fox and the Stork'
We have a new question to explore:
How can I solve the problem of the Fox and the Stork?
See where our question has led us in our learning journey so far...
